Riley Encased Methodology, Patents Pending, and the integrated Encasement Device have been demonstrated to be highly effective in afforestation, habitat creation and restoration, shoreline stabilization and erosion control applications.   The device accelerates the adaptation process and the extension of aerial roots into the surrounding environment while maintaining an optimal level of protection for seedlings during all stages of development.   The design facilitates “REM Adaptation”, which is defined as "induced changes in morphology or structure that habituate the mangrove to a non-native environment or aberrant hydrology establishing reproductively mature trees where natural regeneration cannot occur and conventional planting methods are ineffective."

The tree shown in the photo has completed the adaptation process, become self-supporting and independent of the encasement device.   The new device is a temporary structure designed to be removed from the environment following completion of the adaptation process without damage to the maturing tree. This feature eliminates any future impact of the encasement on the surrounding ecosystem.
