mangrove.org was founded for the purpose of developing a methodology that would provide the optimum conditions for successful mangrove afforestation and reforestation, habitat creation and restoration, shoreline stabilization and erosion control.

We provide reforestation technology, ecological engineering, ecosystem design, implementation and project management services, education and field training programs.

Based on the structured process defined by patented Riley Encased Methodology and the integrated cylindrical encasement technology, an appraisal is conducted to develop site plans with specific ecological and enhancement objectives. The appraisal analyzes the critical elements in degraded or damaged ecosystems including shoreline dynamics, anthropogenic factors, ecology, hydrology and where necessary, geopolitical influences.

We fully evaluate the site and develop a project plan to create or improve mangrove habitat. Our experience spans a wide variety of international projects including shoreline stabilization, protection of seawalls and revetments, as-well-as afforestation in non-native environments to sustain fish, crustacean and bird habitation. Projects range from relatively small scale seawall plantings to reforestation projects that achieve regional ecological and humanitarian goals. We have the experience, technology and dedicated team of professionals (scientists, engineers and project managers) to implement the process and ensure the achievement of established objectives.

We also develop and implement management plans within the project scope-of-work to maintain long-term, reproductively mature, self-sustaining mangrove stands designed in support of the entire ecosystem. Our proprietary technology is applied in shoreline stabilization and erosion control, water quality improvements and pollution control, coastal resilience and sustainable development projects.

Our approach is best characterized:

“Environmental degradation can only be remedied by restoring some of the working of the ecosystem, helping the partially restored system improve itself naturally, and improving the robustness of the ecosystem and its ability to absorb human stress. Ecohydrology provides technology for mitigating the impact on the coastal zone of human activities, using or enhancing the natural capacity of the water bodies to absorb or process nutrients and pollutants from human activities.”
